CAPTAIN’S DAUGHTER IN DANCING PERFORMANCE

On December 13, the Lipetsk Drama Theater, named after Lev N. Tolstoy, hosted the premiere of the Pugachev vocal and choreographic performance based on the novel by A.S. Pushkin “The Captain’s Daughter” performed by the Honored Dance Theater “Cossacks of Russia”.
The characters from the book pages turned into dance characters telling about Masha Mironova, Peter Grinev and Yemelyan Pugachev. The main idea of the work, transmitted by Pushkin in the epithets and metaphors, was reported to the viewer with the help of dance and vocal parties.
Performance-gift dedicated to the 220th anniversary of the author, A.S. Pushkin and the 105th anniversary of TN. Khrennikov, the Dance Theater actors began to prepare in May. In between performances, the artists rehearsed, and honed the stage fight and fencing.
The honored theater of dance for the second time turned to the works of the classics. In 2015, the team embodied on the stage the pages of the novel-epic MA. Sholokhov «Silent Don». The main theme of both productions is the image of the life of the Cossacks. In Pugachev, the viewer saw the life of the common people: the Yaik Cossacks in a series of historical events.
The role of Pyotr Grinev was played by Rostislav Podoprigorov, Ekaterina Golovanova became the embodiment of the book image of Masha Mironova. Alexander Maximov got used to the image of the head of the uprising, Yemelyan Pugachev. Ballet, vocal and orchestra of the Cossacks of Russia State Dance Theater participated in the crowd scenes. Dance movements were supplemented with poems, laid on a musical tune and folk songs.
Acting Governor of the Lipetsk Region, Igor Artamonov, attended the premiere.
For production director Ekaterina Milovanova, the work on vocal and choreographic production became her debut. Spectators together with artists congratulated the choreographer with applause and loud Cossack «Hurray!» The staging was a success!
