Fans of the race honored the memory of coach Vasily Chizhov

On May 6th , the twentieth, traditional spring run-handicap dedicated to the memory of Vasily Chizhov, the trainer for track and field athletics of the Yunost sports complex, which for his life brought up more than one generation of outstanding athletes, was held in the district of Stepurino.
Before the start of the race, the participants were welcomed by the head of the sports department Vladislav Satinayev, the widow of the coach Nina Chizhova and the race organizer, the master of sports and the pupil of Vasily Chizhov, Vladimir Kukushkin. They wished everyone a fair competition.
More than 200 participants from 12 cities took part in the race: from Pavlovsky Posad, Moscow, Egorievsk, Vladimir, Pokrov, Noginsk, Elektrogorsk and other cities. The competitions were held over several distances depending on the age group. Traditionally, boys and girls born in 2006-2011 opened the race. They ran a distance of 500 meters. For young people and girls born in years 2000-2005 it was suggested to overcome the distance of 1000 meters.
The most important race was a 10 km handicap for men and 5 km for women. In this discipline, men and women born in 1999 took part. Older men and women participated too.
After the end of the races, the best participants were awarded with prizes and memorable gifts.
It is worth recalling that the run-handicap is held to attract residents to a healthy lifestyle and active sports.
