Victory Day in Ulyanovsk

A holiday with tears in my eyes. How it was.
The Victory Day was celebrated in Ulyanovsk. Festive events opened the parade, the main audience of which was veterans. The passage of the troops of the territorial garrison, power structures and educational institutions were preceded by live reportage from the Red Square. Thus, the participants and spectators of the Ulyanovsk parade could hear the speech of the President of the Russian Federation and together with the whole country, honor the memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War with a minute of silence.
Then the governor of the Ulyanovsk region, Sergey Morozov, took the speech. The head of the region reminded the audience of the military and labor feat of the Ulyanovsk citizens, together with the whole country forging the victory at the front and in the rear, and urged the present generation of fellow countrymen to be worthy heirs of their heroic grandfathers and great-grandfathers. The official part of the event was continued by the parade itself — ceremonial troops marched along the main square of Ulyanovsk with a solemn march, striking a step and holding an alignment. It was followed by the parade of the banners of enterprises, the one which during the war years worked on our land and made their invaluable contribution to the common cause of the Victory. Completion of this part of the event marked the entrance to the square of a column of motorcycles with banners of flowers of St. George’s ribbon.
After the parade, the installation «We do not want war!» and the orchestra program of the Ulyanovsk orchestra of Russian folk instruments «Melodies of the Motherland» began, it was possible not only to listen to music, but also to dance, as it once was on dance floors. On the open platform, the Ulyanovsk Drama Theater showed an excerpt from the play «Faith, Hope, Love», based on the memories of the anti-aircraft gunner Vera Solovyova, our countrywoman. Actresses did not play, they lived their roles on stage, it was impossible to hold back tears.
30 000 townspeople were this year in the ranks of the Immortal Regiment. The Ulyanovsk region takes part in the All-Russian action for the third time. This year it was the most numerous.
Among the participants of the regiment were veterans. The regiment passed from the main square of the city to the Obelisk of Glory, where they announced a minute of silence in memory of all those who gave us the peaceful sky. The Victory Day ended in rain and with big fireworks!
