THEATER LESSON IN MARIINSKY THEATRE

For students of the tenth classes of St. Petersburg, a unique project is being implemented — “Theater lesson at the Mariinsky Theatre”. Throughout the school year, high school students go to the Mariinsky Theater, where they participate in the program of this project, supported by the Government of St. Petersburg.
During the day, schoolchildren are given a lecture on the upcoming evening performance, treated to various tasty delicacies, shown rehearsing an opera or ballet performance, introduced to the theater from the “inside”, that is, its backstage part in Mariinsky-2 and then the most interesting thing is performing creative work.
The creative project encompasses the decoration of the stage and the creation of any fragment of the upcoming performance. For the successful completion of the work it is necessary to assign the roles of the decorator, artist, director, etc. Then, having thought over the image of the characters of the performance, selecting the material and determining the color scheme, it is necessary to create and arrange them on the model of the scene.
Schoolchildren were impressed by the intensity of the work, because this whole masterpiece must be created in just 25 minutes to protect your project and then publish it in the social network group. At the end of the school year the winner, who will receive a special gift from the Mariinsky Theater, will be determined.
In the evening, high school students will see the real performance — opera or ballet.
