TRAILER OF THE LORD OF THE FLIES FILM

We invite you to watch the trailer for the feature film Lord of the Flies, filmed as part of the project “Children and Youth Against Violence and Cruelty” by Means of Cinema. The project is being implemented by the creative association «YNPRESS» with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund. This is a kind of cinema therapy against violence and cruelty.
The project invites children to immerse themselves in a problematic situation by participating in the filming of the Lord of the Flies based on the work of the same name by William Golding, to feel the characters of this story about enmity and violence from within. However, at the same time, the participants in the filming acted together, collectively, in a comradely manner, were in contrast to what was happening in the work.
In order not to repeat the existing film adaptations and theatrical productions of Lord of the Flies and to get away from real scenes of cruelty, the script takes place in the imagination of today’s schoolboy. The protagonist encounters oppression and bullying at school and takes everyone to a desert island, like the characters of the book by William Golding.
The educational effect of the Lord of the Flies content is greatly enhanced by intergenerational interactions during the preparation and shooting of the film. The young actors were 12-14 years old, the cameramen and other employees of the film group were 13-16 years old. The scriptwriter of the film is Sergei Tsymbalenko, a well-known journalist, writer, president of the creative association YNPRESS, director — Ilya Belostotsky, member of the Guild of Russian Filmmakers, director of photography Taisiya Spektor and cameramen Nikita Anisimov, Gleb Ermakov are students of the camera department of VGIK. Child actors and young members of the film crew (lighting, sound engineers, make-up artists, etc.) passed a competition to get tickets to the Boomerang children’s and youth screen creativity forum at the Orlyonok All-Russian Children’s Center. It turned out to be a friendly team of different ages, which created a new, musical, version of Lord of the Flies. The author of the lyrics is the famous poet Alexander Shaganov, the music was written by Sergey Glukhikh, the head of the children’s rock group “Robinson from Ishim. All the songs in the film are performed by the members of this group.
The partnership with the All-Russian Children’s Center «Orlyonok» was a great success. The children who took part in the shooting of the film were united in a film detachment with the Orlyanok counselors. Collectivism, camaraderie and mutual assistance, reinforced by the traditions of Orlyanok, contrasted with what happens to the children in the film. The creation of a cinema squad based on comradely unity and cooperation is a unique socializing technology.
The project is being implemented using a grant from the President of the Russian Federation for the development of civil society provided by the Presidential Grants Fund.
