AT 30 YEARS OLD LIFE JUST BEGINS

The dance theater, «Cossacks of Russia,» has opened its thirtieth concert season.
The team from year to year shows the viewer the beauty of Cossack songs and dances. The dance theater was founded in 1990 by the choreographer Leonid Milovanov, the People’s Artist of the Russian Federation. For several decades the Cossacks of Russia have been demonstrating their skills at the best concert venues in the world. The dance theater has twice participated in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and in 2012 performed in Windsor on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
In 2020, the team’s plans were thwarted by a pandemic. «Cossacks» managed to perform in front of the residents of Lipetsk with the play «The Don Legend» (staging based on the work of Mikhail Sholokhov «Quiet Don»). After that, a ban on holding public events began. The ensemble is a prize-winner of world-class competitions. Many members of the collective were awarded the title of Honored Artists of Russia. This year, artistic director Leonid Milovanov was awarded the title of «Honorary Citizen of the City of Lipetsk».
Although it is customary to give gifts to a person on their birthday. «Cossacks of Russia» gave the audience a breath of dance art amid strict quarantine measures. The artists surprised the audience with new numbers and again amazed with the already familiar performances. This season, excerpts from the performances «The Captain’s Daughter» and «Quiet Don» have been added to the concert program. Also the dance of «Nekrasov Cossacks» was shown on stage. The opening of the season was held with a Hurray! The audience of «Cossacks of Russia» were inspired by the performance. The theater dancers are ready to further amaze viewers all over the world with the beauty of Cossack art.
