«I WANT A PET!» INTERVIEW WITH YORKSHIRE TERRIER OWNER

«I want a pet!» — says almost every child in the world. Many people think that animals are just a plaything. but where there is fun, there is also a responsibility. Today I talked to Anastasia Malakhova. She has been the owner of a Yorkshire Terrier for almost a year now and told me if it is really worth having pets.
Many children, having seen a dog on the street, or having seen enough pictures of cats, or having visited friends and played with a hamster, begin to ask their parents for animals. (I myself have been asking for an animal for five years already). Parents say this is a big responsibility. Someone cannot have an animal because of allergies, but children still continue to dream about «cute kittens» and tell themselves that when they grow up, they will run a whole zoo.
— How long has a Yorkshire terrier been living with you?
— We bought Ellie on June 12, 2020. I had been asking for a dog for three years and was very happy when we finally got a Yorkshire Terrier.
— Tell me, are animals «fluffy happiness», or rather «big trouble»?
— It depends. Sometimes she is so cute that you think — «She is so good, how can you not love her?» But if she gnaws something and destroys it, then I immediately want to swear at her.
— Is it true that a person becomes more responsible when he has a pet?
— Perhaps yes, but this is clearly not my case.
— Yorkshire Terriers are considered the smartest breed among small dogs. They say their intelligence is equal to that of a five-year-old child. Is it so?
— I think yes. Yorkies are really smart. Ellie knows quite a few commands. True, they are easy to fulfill. She caught some on the fly, but we still teach others.
— As a conclusion, what would you tell to the guys who only dream of a dog or other pet? Is it really worth having a pet?
— When you just think about getting a pet, read various articles and posts, listen to the stories of friends, you still have no idea what a huge responsibility it is. But I think those who are willing to take care of a pet can have this fluffy ball of happiness and mischief.
I advise you to think seriously before starting having a pet. Undoubtedly, this is a fun, but also a great responsibility and care.
