PANCAKES, SHASHLIK AND BURNING OF AN EFFIGY OF MASLENITSA

More than 80 thousand people took part in the «Wide Pancake Week» festivities in Lipetsk.
The celebration took place in parks, near Houses and Palaces of Culture, as well as at sports facilities and in courtyards.
Concert programs, funny contests, prize columns, burning of an effigy of Maslenitsa — all this is traditionally popular and makes the holiday really massive. The fabulous Firebird became the central character at all venues, from whose feather the Maslenitsa bonfires were lit up.
The head of Lipetsk, Evgenia Uvarkina, visited four parks: Nizhny, Metallurgov, Pobedy and Bykhanov Garden, as well as one of the courtyards on Pobedy Avenue. According to the tradition of the Orthodox holiday, she asked the townspeople for forgiveness, and also congratulated everyone on the onset of spring. Of course, it was not done without tasting pancakes.
And what a Pancake Week without a treat! About 20 thousand pancakes and four thousand kilograms of shish kebab were sold at outlets deployed in all districts of the city.
