PHONES ARE BANNED!

“Students, this year it is forbidden in our school to use mobile phones. Also you cannot take pictures in our school — neither of your classmates, nor even of your teachers, ” — was told to the pupils of the 5th St. Petersburg school of speech on September 1.
And in the Second St. Petersburg Grammar School, the 10th grade students will not get “Passed” or “Failed” for research work, as they did before, but they will be evaluated on a five-point system and the result will be entered in the certificate. Another of the innovations: a new subject – astronomy — will be added in all 11 classes. But the most joyful news for schoolchildren in Moscow and the Moscow Region, was that all Saturdays became non-educational days. Schoolchildren of St. Petersburg can only envy the Muscovites.
Besides this school year all the schools in the northern capital will switch to a convenient card system for paying for food in canteens and will become safer: all public schools will be equipped with special turnstiles through which no knife, firearm or explosive device can be carried. These turnstiles in some schools will also infrared technology to determine whether students have a fever and alert the doorman that he/she should send the sick students home.
