PROFESSIONAL DAY OF GUNSMITHS

We all know that Tula was known from old times as the «Armory Capital» of Russia. Therefore, on September 19, the Day of the Gunsmith in Tula was celebrated on a huge scale.
From 9 am to 9 pm many events took place. Tula citizens could visit various exhibitions: «Weapons` Tula», «Demidov dynasty at sources of Tula arms», «Steel guards», «Alley of glory of the famous armourers of Tula». The administration of Tula organized a photo exhibition on the territory of the Tula Kremlin. Anyone could see works devoted to military battles.
Besides the exhibitions, in the building of the Tula State Museum of Weapons, a book entitled «S. Mosin`s Prize: from century to century» was presented. The bust of the outstanding Tula gun designer and Hero of Socialist Labor, Fedor Tokarev, was inaugurated in the alley of the glory of famous gunsmiths.
Also at the solemn meeting dedicated to the Day of the Gunsmith, the awarding of state and regional awards and the awarding of the Tula Region Prize of B.S. Strechkin and the Prize of S.I. Mosin in the Sphere of Science and Technology, named after the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, took place.
In the finale of the festive extravaganza, there were the Fireworks on the Proletarskaya Embankment.
